CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR, WORK, TIMETABLES &c

VARIA
1) C2 test 16th December
Here are a renderings of the two passages which would have been correct. They are NOT GOOD TRANSLATIONS, but they are correct and give the information required. They also show you how it is possible to do this exercise with a limited vocabulary.
1) During the morning of 25. November, in Santa Croce Camerina near Ragusa, Loris Stival was killed. He was eight years old. His mother, Veronica Pannarello, was arrested for the crime. She was taken to the Piazza Lanza prison in Catania. A small crowd was there outside. When she went in, the people shouted insults at her. Other prisoners also insulted her.
2) In San Basilio, Rome, a young 23-year-old man fought with another man who hurt the first man's face. Someone called the police. They entered the man's flat. He seemed afraid and so they became suspicious. They went into his bedroom and found 11 kilos of marijuana. They arrested the man for selling drugs.
Having glanced at some of the work handed in I suggest that most of you should study Jennifer Pudney's book on contrastive analysis of Italian and English structures. Even where Italian was not used, your mistakes were influenced by the language.
