C2 COURSE: APRIL FOOL'S DAY MESSAGE (without the joke)

C2 COURSE: TIMETABLE CHANGES

As you all know by now, owing to gross administrative (omissis) in our department, just over half way through our yearly course, our room for our Thursday lesson has been taken from us, leaving us with no other room at the same time.

Most of the students in the course have already arranged their educational and personal schedules and this change, suddenly and without proper warning, is creating serious problems for many (e.g. working students, mothers with children, timetable clashes).

You know that I have spent time trying to change things, to no avail. The group which was given our room (Aula III at 12.30 on Thursdays) has moved, for reasons of space, to Aula VI and a small group of French students now occupies "our" room. 

I have been informed that nothing else is available at the same time and that the only alternatives are Aula III at 16.30 on Thursdays or Aula VII (which is too small in any case, as it holds only 42 students and we have more than 60 regulars) alle 12.30 il lunedì. Unless student power intervenes with more success than mine, our future Thursday meetings will be at 16.30 in Aula III.

Those students who absolutely cannot come will either be able to switch course (ridiculous at this point in the year) or I shall look benignly upon them as far as attendance is concerned.

RICEVIMENTO:

This will now be on Thursdays at 14.30 and no longer at 10.30

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 5th at 10.30 in aula XIII.

I apologise to you for this, although the fault lies exclusively elsewhere. As this is my last course in this university before retirement, you will understand that the language of this announcement is muted and does not adequately express my real feelings.

Come ormai già saprete, a causa della (omissis) amministrativa nel nostro dipartimento, ad oltre metà del nostro corso annuale di lingua inglese, la nostra aula per la lezione del giovedì ci è stato tolta, lasciandoci senza sostituzione nello stesso orario.

La maggior parte degli studenti del corso hanno già stabilito i loro programmi personali e di studio. Questo cambiamento, improvviso e senza una preventiva informazione, sta creando dei problemi seri per non pochi (per es. studenti lavoratori, madri con bambini, sovrapposizioni di orari con altri corsi).

Sapete già che ho tentato di cambiare questa situazione, senza successo. Il gruppo a cui è stata data la nostra aula (aula III il giovedì alle 12.30) si è spostato in aula VI per delle ragioni di spazio e un piccolo gruppo di studenti di francese or occupa la “nostra” aula.

Sono stato informato che non c’è disponibilità di spazi nello stesso orario e ci è stata offerta solamente l’aula III alle 16.30 il giovedì o l’aula VII alle 12.30 il lunedì (la quale è, in ogni caso, troppo piccola visto che può contenere 42 studenti e noi siamo più di 60 regolari). A meno che gli studenti possano intervenire con più successo di me, nel futuro il nostro corso di giovedì avrà luogo in aula III alle 16.30.

Sarà tenuto conto, per quanto riguarda la frequenza, di quegli studenti che non saranno assolutamente in condizioni di venire a quell’ora o non potranno cambiare corso.

RICEVIMENTO

Si terrà il giovedì alle 14.30 e non più alle 10.30

Il prossimo incontro sarà martedì 5 aprile alle 10.30 in punto in aula XIII.

Chiedo scusa a tutti voi per quest’annuncio anche sapendo che la responsabilità è esclusivamente altrove. Visto che questo è il mio ultimo corso in questa università prima di andare in pensione, potrete capire che il linguaggio del mio annuncio è sotto tono e non esprime adeguatamente quello che sento veramente.
