results esonero CR 17th December 2014

I am sorry for the people who did not pass that these results are being published today, but think it is better than having to wait until 29th. Those who did not pass should certainly come to see their papers during the morning of 12th January or during Ricevimento on 13th at 12.30.

Those who have passed the esonero may now do the oral exam with either me or (for MLC students), prof. Mary Wardle. My exam will be on Monday 12th at 09.30 in alphabetical order.

CHRISTMAS, NEW YEAR, WORK, TIMETABLES &c

VARIA
1) C2 test 16th December
Here are a renderings of the two passages which would have been correct. They are NOT GOOD TRANSLATIONS, but they are correct and give the information required. They also show you how it is possible to do this exercise with a limited vocabulary.
1) During the morning of 25. November, in Santa Croce Camerina near Ragusa, Loris Stival was killed. He was eight years old. His mother, Veronica Pannarello, was arrested for the crime. She was taken to the Piazza Lanza prison in Catania. A small crowd was there outside. When she went in, the people shouted insults at her. Other prisoners also insulted her.
2) In San Basilio, Rome, a young 23-year-old man fought with another man who hurt the first man's face. Someone called the police. They entered the man's flat. He seemed afraid and so they became suspicious. They went into his bedroom and found 11 kilos of marijuana. They arrested the man for selling drugs.
Having glanced at some of the work handed in I suggest that most of you should study Jennifer Pudney's book on contrastive analysis of Italian and English structures. Even where Italian was not used, your mistakes were influenced by the language.

2) RICEVIMENTO
The next ricevimento will be on TUESDAY 13th January at 12.30.
also Wednesday 14th January at 10.30.
also Tuesday 27th January at 10.00
then Wednesday 11th February at 11.00
then Friday 27th February at 11.00 (check this, it may change).
